Use a baby food machine to cook baby porridge: these five points you should pay attention to
Have you decided to prepare porridge for your baby with a baby food maker? You should take these things to heart:
Only rely on organic products. Otherwise, food served almost exclusively in organic quality is a better choice.
Choose vegetables with low nitrate content. These include, for example, carrots, eggplants, leeks, cucumbers, potatoes, beans, parsnips or black salsify.
Always add some oil or butter to the porridge. High-quality, refined organic vegetable oils, such as sunflower oil, rapeseed oil or wheat germ oil, are most suitable for this purpose.
It is best not to prepare too much porridge with equipment in advance, because it should be as fresh as possible when eating. As a guideline, babies younger than 6 months should only eat porridge in the refrigerator for a maximum of 24 hours. For older babies, baby food should be consumed within two to three days. Baby food can be stored in the refrigerator for two to three months without hesitation.
Even if your child only eats a small amount of porridge: You cannot reheat it, because on the one hand the vitamins contained in it will be lost, and on the other hand the bacteria will multiply faster. Our tip: Always heat only a small portion, if you are hungry than expected, it is best to add more.
If you have a Grownsy or similar kitchen utensil at home, you can also steam it gently, and you can save the purchase cost. Of course, you can also cook the porridge in a pot in the old-fashioned way, and then puree it with a stand mixer or a hand mixer. But the subsequent preparation is not as gentle and healthy as a baby food mixer.
