4-6 months old baby is a small taster
At this time, most of the babies have not yet grown teeth, and the baby teeth are about to erupt, and they like to swallow food, so the muddy food is very suitable for babies. Mothers need to learn how to observe the signs that the baby needs supplementary food
4-6 months old baby's diet is still based on breast milk or formula milk, and supplementary food is added for the main purpose of trying to eat. The amount to be added starts from 1-2 scoops and gradually increases thereafter. Mainly provide liquid and mashed foods. Provide rice noodles (may be prepared with breast milk, formula milk or apple juice), vegetable puree, fruit juice or puree (juice starts with water, and then drink the original juice), followed by puree.
Rice noodles: Feeding egg whites should be at least until the baby is 1 year old. For babies with family history of allergies, the time to feed egg yolks can be postponed to 6 months later. In the past, it was advisable to start with egg yolks, but now doctors recommend starting with pure rice noodles to prevent allergies.
Fruits: Do not give your baby the sour fruits such as oranges, lemons, and kiwis.
Vegetables: such as carrots, potatoes, green beans, pumpkins, etc.
Milk and dairy products are the main food for babies. The daily milk intake is about 600-800ml, not more than 1000ml.
Carry out regular breastfeeding training in advance. Generally, breastfeeding 5 times a day with an interval of 4 hours is appropriate.
The food should be pure, soft, and easy to swallow. Do not add any flavoring agents (such as salt, monosodium glutamate, chicken essence, soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, etc.).
Use a small spoon to feed. Choose a spoon of the right size and soft texture. At the beginning, only scoop a small amount of food in front of the small spoon, gently stretch the small spoon and place it on the tip of the baby's tongue, and then withdraw the small spoon. Avoid getting the small spoon into the mouth too deep or pressing the baby's tongue with the spoon, which will cause the baby's disgust.
Start with 1 to 2 scoops for the first two days. If the baby digests and absorbs well, increase it slowly.
Every time a new food is added, it should be done after the previous food is consumed for 3 to 5 days, and the baby has no abnormalities. You can start by adding baby rice noodles that are least likely to cause allergies.
For 4 to 5 months, supplementary food can be added once a day, usually after the baby wakes up from a nap. At the beginning, for babies who don't like to eat slushy food, they can eat slushy food before feeding; and for babies who especially like slushy food, they can feed the slushy food first and then feed the slushy food.
